Confirm Who You Are Dealing With

Before making arrangements, confirm the identity of the person, business, charity, or organization you are dealing with as far as reasonably possible.

If professional qualifications, licences, insurance, or other credentials may be required, ask to see appropriate proof before proceeding.

Protect Personal Information

Share only the information that is reasonably necessary to make arrangements.

Do not publicly post private residential addresses, financial information, identification documents, passwords, account information, or other sensitive personal information.

Provide additional contact or location information privately only when you are comfortable doing so.

Meet Safely

When practical, arrange exchanges or meetings in a safe public location.

If someone must come to your home or property, consider having another person present and let someone you trust know about the arrangement.

Transportation

Use additional care when accepting or providing transportation.

Confirm who will be driving, where you are going, and any other details you consider important before the trip begins.

Accommodation

Temporary accommodation can be extremely helpful during an emergency, but both parties should use reasonable care before making arrangements.

Confirm the identity of the people involved, understand what is being offered, and discuss any important conditions before agreeing to stay or host someone.

Repairs and Professional Services

For building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, medical, childcare, or other regulated or professional services, confirm that the person providing the service has any qualifications or credentials that may be required.

Goods and Equipment

Use reasonable care when accepting food, equipment, tools, household goods, or other items.

Do not use damaged, unsafe, recalled, contaminated, or otherwise unsuitable goods or equipment.

Trust Your Judgment

If an arrangement feels unsafe, inappropriate, misleading, or suspicious, do not proceed.

You are never required to continue an arrangement simply because contact was made through AidNet.

Emergency Situations

AidNet is not an emergency response service.

If there is an immediate threat to life, health, or safety, contact the appropriate emergency services or local authorities.

Report Concerns

If you encounter a listing or user that appears fraudulent, abusive, misleading, inappropriate, or unsafe, please report it or contact AidNet.
